Last minute gift: Gift certificates

I'm having flashbacks to my days at walmart.com working on last minute gift options and promotions. But, i do have a last minute gift option: gift certificates.

If you would like to give a friend or family member a photography session I can send a packaged gift certificate to you or directly to them. Simply send me an email with the request, and I can send it out ASAP!

My images in Parents magazine, Cookie, pregnancy magazine and others!

I found out that my images are currently in about 10 magazines. No exciting by lines with 'photographs by nicole scarborough' in giant font but it's a start. Some of my images are featured on tiny prints' website and they used one in their print campaign this holiday season. My husband saw it in the southwest airlines in flight magazine and then we found out it was in 9 other publications. pretty exciting. And the photo is of good friends, so her girls are now little models.

Now i need to get a travel magazine gig and tour the globe.

Holiday cards sent!

My holiday cards went out last week and I breathed a sigh of relief. For the second year in a row the cover of my card is a picture of my kids walking or running away from the camera. it may now have to become a tradition.

I have received about 15 cards from friends and clients and i really get a kick out of seeing my pictures in print. I'm logging ideas for next year's cards and i think i may also design some simple cards for people looking for something unique. Not that i can do a better job than these other card sites, but i can guarantee that no one will have the same one.

Is it bad that the photographer doesn't have a holiday card?

A non photo blog entry for once. I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Only 3 more shoots to edit and send out! i had 12 in 5 days, right around thanksgiving, and i'm trying to get the pictures to people soon so they can send their holiday cards. Who knew photography would be so stressful. I do have some friends who waited a while to ask me for photographs, but i'm hoping to space those out a bit.

i just had the realization that i have no christmas cards figured out for my family. i had a calendar entry to get that done in september, but that clearly didn't happen. maybe next year i'll get them done early. i took some pictures while my kids were decorating the tree, so that might be the card. or i may use some random beach shots from some past beach visits...hmm. suggestions are appreciated.

and now, back to editing....for those curious as to what photographers do post session: i spend about 5 -7 hours on each shoot after the shoot is over. i'm hoping to increase my efficiency in 2009, but that's where i'm at now. so, 12 shoots times 7 hours = 84 hours of cranky husband and kids.

family photo shoot/play date

These two are friends with my kids so this was a playdate/family photo shoot. We went to Holbrook Palmer park (i know every tree in that place now) to shoot with the fallen leaves.

Traditional, multi-generation

This family was extremely consistent and easy to shoot, and the little 2 year old could not have been cuter.

Playful family at Stanford

This family was easy to photograph as everyone was relaxed and playful during our session.

Our little niece

Pictures from a fun visit with good friends. And this cutie is like a niece to us.
